Who is Commercial Real Estate Services?

Shawn Biggings, the broker and President of CRS, has over 30 years experience in the commercial real estate industry.  Shawn has held senior positions with some of Canada’s leading developers and shopping centres and been responsible for the leasing and management of millions of square feet of AAA properties in alberta and Manitoba.

Shawn is a fourth generation Winnipeg native and real estate professional. She started her career in commercial real estate in Winnipeg in 1979 when she opened Dynamic Property Management after attending University of Manitoba’s faculty of Administrative Studies (commerce). Dynamic had mixed use portfolio including condos, apartment buildings, office buildings and retail. In the mid eighties, Shawn sold Dynamic and joined the Bentall Group as a regional manger responsible for a portfolio of major office towers, retail and industrial developments across the prairies. In 1990, Bentall added a special project in Calgary to her portfolio, which ultimately resulted in Shawn relocating. While in Calgary, Shawn focused on retail management and leasing. She was involved in the start up leasing for Eau Claire Market, managed a portfolio of retail properties with Oxford Development including TD Centre, Calgary Eaton Centre, and then moved to Marlborough Mall for 20Vic Management. In late 1997, an opportunity in Banff lured Shawn to the Bow Valley and in 1999 she established Commercial Real Estate Services.

Since the inception of CRS, Shawn has worked with hundred of businesses and completed over 100,000 square feet of local property transactions which represents the vast majority of all commercial transactions in the area. Shawn has personally worked on the largest and smallest of projects in Canmore, Exshaw and Banff and earned a reputation for integrity and professionalism. She has maintained valued relationships with international brokerages that enable her to provide services far beyond the normal scope of a small town brokerage.

Shawn completed Manitoba’s ICI program in 1986, her CPM in 1987 and her BOMA certifications in 1989. She has been affiliated with IREM, BOMA, ICSC and BOWDA.

In Spring of 2010 Merrill Wattie joined Commercial Real Estate Services as associate broker.  Merrill brings a wealth of experience to the team.  He  was co-owner of one of Western Canada's largest industrial/commercial development companies for 10 years prior to his 20 years in the local commercial/residential brokerage industry.  Merrill is also a former Councillor - Town of Canmore and is a 25 year resident of the Bow Valley.  Merrill can be reached at 403-678-6781.
